Phillies Pitcher Madson Awarded for Geothermal Heat Pump Installation

Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Ryan Madson is the most recent superstar to make the move towards greener living by installing a geothermal heat pump system.  The pitcher and his wife Sarah are retrofitting the home they just bought in Wayne with an energy efficient geothermal heating and cooling system.

Along with the geothermal unit the couple is also re-insulating the home with a soybean-based spray foam, energy recovery ventilators, energy saving lighting, along with other green improvements.  The renovations will be led by Main Line’s Caledonia Renovation who expect the entire renovation to take 10 months.

Madson will receive an award for his eco-friendly changes at the inaugural Manayunk EcoArts Festival held on Sept. 25 and 26.  Also being recognized at the event are Mayor Nutter, city councilman Curtis Jones and rapper Schoolly D.

While Madson is being recognized for his green efforts, he knows that the installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system will benefit his wallet as well saving him up to 70% on his heating and cooling bills.
