APPA Conference to Feature Geothermal Experts
On Friday, July 16th top experts and university administrators will speak at the APPA in Boston to discuss the importance of geothermal heat pumps. Jim Knutson, the comprehensive solutions director for Trane, Dave button, the vice president of administration at the University of Regina, and Erik van de Boogaard, the associate vice president for facilities planning design and construction at Adams State College will share the impact of geothermal heat pumps with APPA members.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. schools spend $6 billion a year on energy costs, which is more than they spend on textbooks and computers combined. Almost twenty-five percent of that energy is actually lost energy due to inefficient building designs and technologies. The speakers will address the functionality and efficiency of geothermal heat pumps as an alternative heating and cooling solution.
Van de Boogaard will focus on the benefits of geothermal and Knutson will explain how the geothermal technology currently works as well as the funding options for it. Finally, both Button and van de Boogaard will share information with members about how to determine the benefits of geothermal heating and cooling on their campuses.
This portion of the conference is set to take place on Friday, July 16th, from 9-10am at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center in Boston, MA.
